Duffy and The Brit Awards 2009 Nominations and Arrivals

The Brit Awards 2009 are being held tonight in London at Earls Court and Coldplay and Duffy lead the nominations list with the highest counts.

The show will be hosted by Kylie Minogue, James Corden and Matthew Horne and Performing live tonight will be U2, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Take That, Pet Shop Boys, Lady GaGa, Duffy, Estelle and The Ting Tings.

Alesha Dixon and “Breathe Slow” Official Video and Rating

Alesha Dixon is in the news and she has a new single out called “Breathe Slow” which is due for release next week but is already in the charts at No6 according to the Radio 1 Official Top 40.

A song that is No6 Pre Release………..thats the sort of news that needs a closer look!

Review:

Alesha Dixon’s former song “The Boy Does Nothing” was a song for the girls having a gentle teasing pop at us lads and did pretty well chart wise. “Breathe Slow” is a completely different animal with a slower more ballad like tempo underpinned by a catchy mid paced baseline. Video is in black and white and the video gets the thumbs up from us, it matches the song, shows Alesha in true style and she is looking stunning. Before she even gets a chance to sing, the first 16 or so seconds we could tell this is going to be a very very good song indeed!

The song is technically superb, there’s evidence of good layering for those who notice such things, base, percussion, mid, synth, its all there, and Alesha weaves her vocals in and out of this layering in a harmonious and convincing manner and it’s hard not to get drawn into the song and its airy atmosphere.

Vocally Alesha is truly on song here, utterly beautiful performance, girly tones, clear, precise, piercing but nicely rounded and simply breathtaking. Very difficult to find much wrong with this song but every song has something , and this one suffers from just a mild repetition, something most pop songs are guilty of, and we have had to mark down slightly for that. Otherwise this is a solid and gorgeous song and we will be suprised if this does not reach No1 next week, only Lily Allen in our opinion stands in her way, but this song by virtue is a sonically, vocally and technically superior song. Rating 4 stars out 5++
