Cheryl Cole Solo Career and Latest News!

Cheryl Cole, voted FHM Sexiest Woman in the World is always in the headlines, what is becoming of increasing concern and interest not only here but for fans of her and Girls Aloud is the burning question, what solo career plans are in the pipeline and which road is Cheryl  going to take as this will have a dramatic impact on the Girls Aloud future!

The US TV show appearance has been in the headlines for a while now, still in the very strong rumour phase, but according to Now Magazine it looks like this US move may be shelved. With news like that you need to see confirmation for a reason why this is not going ahead. According to MTV UK who are incredibly in the know, they have confirmed that Cheryl has indeed started working on solo material. Apparently her husband Ashley Cole has bought Cheryl a recording studio which is being installed in their Surrey Mansion, and Cheryl has approached a line up of producers to work with her on her solo album, which looks set to be released some time next year, according to MTV sources.

This is all good news for Cheryl but this then raises the question where does this leave Girls Aloud?? Splitting, taking a break or something else. According to MTV after the “Out of Control Tour” they intend to take a break and pursue there solo plans with Nicola Roberts heading into the beauty and cosmetic sector, and Sarah Harding into acting and Nadine possibly a solo musical venture. Kimberley as yet unclear! BUT they have signed a 3 album record deal in February just gone and the first of the albums is to be released in Autumn 2010 which would strongly suggest as seems to always be the case, they will be staying together as Girls Aloud for some time to come and Cheryl Cole will be very much part of that arrangement!

Here are Girls Aloud in a photoshoot for their new Out of Control Tour.

And yes, they’re photoshopped. They made Nadine’s wast smaller, they took some inches off Kimberly’s hips and such skin does not exist… basically, they made them all look the same.

P.S.: Isn’t Cheryl’s hair a tad too big for how tiny she is?

Girls Aloud in Tiny Rubber Outfits + Then and Now | cheryl cole

So this is a 2 in 1 post:

* First, we’ve got the girls in some plastic outfits - and while the clothes might look good on Nadine and on Kimberly, they surely don’t look good on Cheryl above… just weird (plus, she looks uncomfortable).

* Secondly, we’ve got a flashback: Girls Aloud a few years back, when Nadine, Cheryl and even Nicola were less skinny. Around that time, Cheryl was 133 lbs at 5′3” and wore size 29 jeans.

Girls Aloud New Single “Untouchable” Official Video

Girls Aloud have got a New single out called “Untouchable” which the media have been having a field day on reporting with words like “sizzling” and “hottest yet”, as the outfits they are wearing are a bit on the steamy side, and don’t leave much to the imagination, it’s all sci fi themed skimpy PVC lyotards paraded with suggestive poses. Thought we had better take a closer look and see what is going on? Loads of rumours surrounding the Girls, there always are, but they are very much still together despite all the rumours but a future split cannot be ruled out and they are chasing solo ventures but keeping Girls Aloud very much alive.

The Brit Awards 2009 - Show

This is there 21st single and this one is again taken from their latest album and was aired on UK Channel 4 on Wednesday 25 March. It’s being hailed as a very 90’s poppy clubby sounding number and it’s idea was based on 90’s dance music.

The Verdict:

Get past the futuristic noises and the opening few seconds and we have made our mind up already about this song, and thats even before the PVC lyotard touting girls make an appearance. Futuristic vocals from Nicola sounding similar to a stuck zinging CD gets the ball rolling and this looks a little bit different from the previous offering which we liked a lot.

Good vocals and girly harmony, average lyrics, its a clubby anthem style song so vocals are not that important and repetition is there but it’s not in your face, it’s got a big and “we are the best” sound to it, girls look the hottest yet, its catchy, technically pretty good with some decent soundstaging and the video is also pretty good, and shows the girls off very well, but this one they almost manage to pull off in every video, not that difficult when you’ve got 5 very good looking girls! What we like about this video is they look sexy, they know it, and they are doing it without even trying! Cheryl had us pressing the pause button a couple of times thinking we were seeing more than we are supposed to, but this is all cleverly filmed and choreographed but worth hitting the pause button all the same!

All in all its a thumbs up from us again, we have not heard the album, but from the single releases we are seeing coming off this new offering this is solid Girls Aloud stuff and they are maturing to produce some classy sounding numbers and are still the undisputed No1 girl band and set the benchmark in this pop genre!  We are firmly way above neutral on this song, clubby repetition and average vocals just keeps it shy of a 4 star rating. We like a lot, and our Rating 3 and half stars out 5+++++++++++

Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts and The NME Awards Brixton Academy, London

Sarah HardingThe Shockwave NME Awards were held last night at the Brixton Academy in London, and this is an awards ceremony that  features awards picked by the people’s vote.

Sarah Harding night out (not at the NME Awards) photo by tanisha_GA

Tough call for who was to be the headline but Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud looked on form for us with Alice Dellal snapping close  at their heels literally with her high rise heel jobs. There was no contest for the most outrageous outfit with Grace Jones as per usual having no contest!

It was a lads night with Muse and MGMT mopping up the gongs and the girls gongs saw Alexa Chung as Best Dressed and Amy Winehouse surprisingly as Worst Dressed with Hayley Williams winning the sexiest female award.  The gong is in the style of a 1 finger salute……………enough said!

This is the sort of award ceremony thats a bit more informal and the big star line up attending the event tend to “let rip” which makes for an entertaining night for them and makes some headline news for us.
