Katie Holmes’ baby making is on hold due to her red-hot film career - and hubby Tom Cruise is NOT happy!

The 30-year-old Dawson’s Creek beauty just signed to star in the new thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark - and pals say it will delay Cruise Baby No. 2.

While Tom has not complained to Katie, “he’s bumming because he really wants another child - now!” a family friend told The ENQUIRER.

Katie promised her 46-year-old hubby that if he agreed to her recent All My Sons gig on Broadway, then she’d try to get pregnant this spring.

“But Katie was such a hit that she right away landed a film role in The Extra Man, and that led to another movie project,” said the source.

“Katie feels she had to strike while the iron is hot career-wise. Since she’s only 30, she feels there’s plenty of time for more kids,” said the source, especially since she turned down reprising her role in bat-sequel The Dark Knight.

Obama also took playful digs at his frequent use of a teleprompter and Vice President Joe Biden’s knack for speaking off the cuff.

His own administration, which has been in power for just over 100 days, was also in line for the president’s playful wit. “I believe my next hundred days will be so successful that I will be able to complete them in 72 days,’ he said to a roar of laughter. ‘And on my 73rd day, I will rest.”

On a more serious note Obama talked of the financially struggling media industry and praised journalists for holding government officials accountable.

The White House Correspondents Association was formed in 1914 as a liaison between the press and the president. Every president since Calvin Coolidge has attended the dinner.

The association will donate more than $23,000 to the charity So Others Might Eat, including money raised by skipping formal dessert for guests.

Like Pitt and Jolie and the Beckhams, they have considerable earning power as a couple, not just as individuals with both partners contributing towards their overall fame, talent and success.

Others in this category include, for instance, rapper Jay-Z and partner Beyonce Knowles who have a Power of Two score of 17.5 and actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith who score 15.5.

According to Paula Hall’s calculations, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick score 14.5 but Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow only manage ten out of 30.

Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes sign autographs for fans at the premiere of Star Trek at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

It seems that the celebrity couple skipped the red carpet.

According to a report, Tom has offered to let Katie’s recently widowed sister Tammy and her children move into their Beverly Hills mansion. Katie’s brother-in-law, 48-year-old Jeff Fretti, died of a heart attack on April 12.

“Katie was so worried and upset for Tammy,” an insider reveals. “They are really close, and Katie wanted to help any way she could. Then Tom came up with the idea of inviting Tammy and the boys to live with them. It meant Katie could keep a close watch on her sister and help her through this tough time. Tom really was a savior. He wants Katie to be happy, and he knew this would make it so much easier for her.”

The Holmes family was deeply touched that Katie and Tom, as well as Tom’s mom, were able to fly to Toledo for the April 20 funeral in spite of their hectic schedules, says another source.

When the burial concluded, Tom and Katie stayed at the grave with Tammy and Jeff’s sons, 6-year-old Jack and 8-year-old Joe.

“Katie had her arms around little Jack, and Tom stood with the tearful older boy, Joe, while holding Suri,” said the source.

“Katie cried quietly while placing a red rose with a message attached with a ribbon on top of the casket.

“Little Suri had her head buried into her daddy’s chest with her baby doll and blanket around her.”

Added the insider: “The fact that Tom stepped forward and offered to open his home to Tammy and her boys was a great comfort to Katie, her sister and the entire Holmes family at this difficult time.”

Katie Holmes has sparked concerns for her health after hubby Tom Cruise discovered her puffing on a cigarette, according to a new report.

Katie - who was believed to be following the Scientology detox diet The Purification Rundown earlier this year - has reportedly come under scrutiny from her husband for falling back on old habits.

An insider revealed: “Tom leads a very disciplined life and happily encouraged Katie to follow Scientology and purification detoxes.”

The source continued :“He’s livid she’s started smoking again and is doing everything he can to put pressure on her to quit what he calls a filthy habit.”

Meanwhile, Katie was looked positively glowing as she stepped out solo to attend the Independent Filmmaker Project’s 30th Anniversary in New York.
